Microsoft has released the latest preview update (version 2.0.0) for Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). The new update brings multiple improvements with several experimental features such as autoMemoryReclaim and Sparse VHD that will help with cache and disk space management.
Microsoft explains:
We fetch a fixed portion of your VM’s memory size, which is calculated such that if your VM were full of cache, it would go to zero cache after 30 minutes (for example: if you have 3,000 MB of memory, we recover 100 MB every minute). .
There are also network-related improvements with mirror mode which adds IPv6 support and better VPN support, among others. Besides mirror mode, DNS tunneling improvements and firewall support have also been added.
