KNWLS’ Spring/Summer 2024 showcase was characterized by a “need for speed,” according to the collection notes, “fueled by a primal urge to skirt the edge of life.” Double Essencethe showcase saw model and former adult film star Mia Khalifa close the show, followed by an appearance by Lily McMenamy.
An explosive fusion of KNWLS signatures and new-season silhouettes, SS24 follows the brand’s recent collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier and is the perfect follow-up. Read on for Hypebae’s recap of the KNWLS showcase at London Fashion Week.
WHO: Mia Khalifa closed the show, followed by model and actress Lily McMenamy (aka daughter of Kristen McMenamy.)
OR: The show took place in a Grade II listed building dubbed Old Billingsgate – once a popular London market and now converted into a multi-functional events space.
TOUCH: Distinctive textures characterize KNWLS SS24, fusing tactile details like pom-poms and braiding with soft shapes and silhouettes. Checkered patterns and floral prints took over mini skirts and matching tops, paired with new denim washes, faded circular patterns, cracked leather and striped camo.
SEE: Fan favorites like KNWLS’s Claw Moto jacket, iconic corsets and Fang and Razr bags made a triumphant return to the runway, alongside the brand’s long-standing partnership with Parisian jewelry brand Panconesi. Jagged enameled tips and serpentine hoop earrings were the perfect accompaniment to rebellious clothing, punctuated by feminine silhouettes like asymmetrical skirts and minidresses.
TASTE: The grunge girl continues to be one of fashion’s favorite trends, characterized by leather, faded denim, and oil-smeared haircuts. Blue, green and pink color palettes are our mantra this season, alongside contemporary reinterpretations of classic checks and denim.
