Xiaomi has definitely taken certain steps with the Mi 9 Pro 5G. The device was launched last year as the company’s first 5G smartphone available. In fact, it was the most affordable 5G phone of its day. Right now, we’re starting to drop the price of 5G phones with the advent of mid-range chipsets with 5G connectivity. In 2019, the Mi 9 Pro 5G was one of the most accessible options for those who want to surf in the unexplored waters of 5G. Despite this crown, users of this smartphone were disappointed by the absence of an Android 10 update. Well, it seems that Xiaomi has finally heard their claim and is rolling out the long-awaited update.
It should be noted that this update still carries the status “Beta”. For this reason, it only reaches users registered in the beta testing program. but it’s better than nothing. If the company manages to fix all the bugs in the firmware, it shouldn’t take more than a few weeks to deploy a stable version for all users.
It took Xiaomi about six months to release the first Android 10 update for the device that was released in the second half of 2019. It was running Android 9 Pie with MIUI 11 running. We all know that the versions of Android are not much different if you have MIUI running. However, the users who paid for this flagship product deserve proper support that includes the major Android updates. Aside from all incremental changes, the new version of the software includes the March 2020 security patch.
