Meshel Laurie ruffled the feathers of some of his fans over the weekend after congratulating Victorian Premier Dan Andrews on his huge election win.
The former Project panelist, 49, shared a photo on Instagram of herself posing with Andrews after it was announced that the Labor government had won a third term.

Meshel added, “It’s not about what’s popular, it’s about what’s good.”
Many of Meshel’s 27,000 supporters were taken aback by his tough political stance.
One upset fan said it was “the most ridiculous thing I’ve read today”, while another said she had “lost a follower”.
Meanwhile, a disgruntled third fan said her words were a “shame”.

Mr Andrews, whose party was expected to win an outright majority of 50 seats, took to the stage with his wife Cath and children Grace, Noah and Joseph at a victory party at his seat in Mulgrave, south- east of Melbourne.
In a triumphant address to the Labor faithful, he hailed his controversial Covid policy – which included a 263-day lockdown of Melbourne, the longest in the world – as a tough move that ultimately succeeded and united Victoria.
He said: “My friends, the last few years have been incredibly difficult. We had to make some very tough decisions, some very tough decisions, and Victorian families and businesses across our state went through a very difficult time.
“It was a unique event in 100 years. And because of the tough decisions we made, and… the fact that Victorians are sticking together… we went out and got vaccinated. Because vaccines work.
“As a community, we were not, as some would say, divided. We were rather united in our faith in science.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Meshel bluntly fired on The Project, accusing the show’s producers of removing her from the panel following her father’s death.
She claimed to have asked for leave in February 2019 “because my father was literally dying”, but she was cold three months later when she tried to return.
Meshel, who now runs her own successful podcast company, was apparently told the spots on the panel “are filled for the next two months.”
This marked the end of his four years on Channel 10’s current affairs show.
To add insult to injury, she claimed that she then attended The Project’s tenth anniversary taping as an audience member and was “treated…like I didn’t never existed”.
Meshel opened up about his exit from The Project in a raunchy Instagram post, accusing management of being evasive and failing to provide comment.
