Melanie C has a strong “friendship” with Billie Eilish, with the pair bonding under the “pressures” of fame.
The Spice Girls singer has gone from being a fan of the 20-year-old pop star to being friends with her, and Billie was grateful to get some advice from the 48-year-old music legend.
The ‘Wannabe’ hitmaker said: “I just felt like I had such a connection with Billie. It’s something we really shared and bonded and befriended.
“I spoke to Billie about the pressures. I often think that when I talk to young artists, they’re going to be like, ‘Oh, yeah, shut up, grandma!’ But Billie takes it into account and has talked about it too.
“I think what’s been a wonderful thing that I’ve seen change in the industry is – and I still think there’s a way to go – that some labels and management teams are taking health more seriously. mental and physical health of their artists. There’s more support now that wasn’t there in the 90s. We see artists putting on shows because of their mental or physical health. You know, it wasn’t an option. I had to continue.
One of Melanie’s motivations for writing her book “Who I Am: My Story” was to share her experiences living with an eating disorder and battling depression to let people know that it is okay to Openly discuss your mental health issues.
Mel – also known as Sporty Spice – said: “Part of the reason I wrote my book was because I’ve been through these things and been through a lot of pain. And if people can maybe avoid some of the pitfalls through my experiences, then that’s good. You know, I feel like it wasn’t in vain.
