Mel B shares four-piece Spice Girls throwback snap on Forever album anniversary

Mel B shared a throwback snap with her Spice Girls bandmates on Instagram Sunday in line with the 22nd anniversary of their album Forever.

The singer, 47, posed with bandmates Victoria Beckham, Melanie C and Emma Bunton while filming in 2000 – at a time when Geri Horner was not in the band.

It comes after Mel was unable to attend Geri’s 50th birthday party on Saturday night alongside the rest of the girls, with her rep telling MailOnline she ‘had a long chat’ with fellow hitmaker Wannabe before celebration.

Her spokesperson said: “Melanie attended her family’s annual bonfire party which was also due to celebrate her engagement to Rory – but had a long chat with GerI before the party.”

Victoria, Emma and Melanie C were all spotted having fun at the glitzy event, even getting together to sing along to their old classics.

But Mel, who recently confirmed her engagement to Rory McPhee, did not appear at the event.

Geri spared no expense at the lavish bash and, according to The Sun, dropped £400,000 on the party.

Ginger Spice turned 50 in August and had planned her party for September but postponed it due to the death of the Queen.

The singer was pictured with husband Christian Horner, daughter Bluebell, 16, whom she shares with director and screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, bandmates and TV presenter Rylan Clark.

Christian gave a heartfelt speech at the party and was also pictured lovingly dancing with his wife on the dance floor.

Shirley Bassey serenaded the birthday girl with a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday to loud applause, while Alexandra Burke also reportedly performed.

Myleene Klass and Poppy Delevingne were also seen doing plenty of moves on the dance floor alongside Zack Ashley.

Rylan, 34, took to Instagram to share a photo of himself wearing the Union Jack coat he donned during his performance of a Spice Girls medley during a competition on The X Factor in 2012.

This Morning host Holly Willoughby, 41, was also present, as was Geri’s ex, radio presenter Chris Evans, 56.

Virgin Radio host Chris, who attended with his professional golfer wife Natasha Shishmanian, 42, briefly dated Geri in 1999 when they were both at the peak of their careers.

Onlookers claimed a live band could be heard playing jazz and swing music as fireworks shot across the sky, as it was Bonfire Night, while a three-course dinner was served for 160 guests.

It comes after Mel B confirmed she was set to wed her beau after it was speculated last month that they were planning to tie the knot.

In a new interview, Scary Spice revealed that her fellow Spice Girls gave her fiancé the stamp of approval and even cried at the happy news.

Mel admitted she really cares about her bandmates’ opinion of her other half and in the past “they’ve never liked any of my boyfriends”.

She said Hello!: ‘Emma cried, Mel C too. Everyone was thrilled for us and said, “We love Rory, he’s amazing” and they all sent congratulatory cards.

“I care about their opinion and it’s really special to me that they like Rory so much because they’ve never liked any of my boyfriends and they’ve been very clear about that.”

“They actually pushed me towards Rory for ages before we both got romantic, but I said, ‘It’s not like that; he’s just a very good friend who makes me feel safe”.

Rory popped the question to Mel with a £100,000 diamond ring at the luxury country hotel Cliveden House in Berkshire.

According to The Sun, Mel B was “overwhelmed” when Leeds-born hairstylist Rory got down on one knee and burst into tears of joy.

The publication reports that he then handed over a £100,000 ring consisting of a champagne-colored pear-cut diamond set in a rose gold band.

An insider told the outlet that Mel said “yes” immediately, adding, “But it was incredibly emotional because after everything she’s been through, it was a really big moment for her.”

Another one The source shared how Mel “is so happy” about her engagement, adding, “It took a long time for a man to trust him and believe in love again.”

“He’s the absolute opposite of so many guys she’s had relationships with,” explaining how he showed her that men can be “caring, trustworthy and dependable.”

The insider described Mel’s fiancé as “a normal, down-to-earth guy with good character” and insisted he was not interested in fame.

They also revealed the pair have known each other for many years, with the two being from Leeds and Rory being best friends with Mel’s cousin Christian Cooke.

The publication reports that Mel’s eldest daughter Phoenix, 23, was the first person she told about the engagement, with her wider friends and family said to be “thrilled”, while all the other Spice Girls of the singer have already met “and as her future husband.
