Meghan Markle has revealed that she spent part of her Thanksgiving cooking a meal for over 300 homeless women.

On November 25, a day after Thanksgiving, the Duchess of Sussex shared a photo of herself cutting a pumpkin pie while casually dressed in a sweatshirt and hat black for her and Prince Harry’s Archewell website.

In the photo, which shows Meghan wearing a mask and rubber gloves, she could be seen packing the pie into individual containers, which were then distributed to residents of the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) in Los Angeles, California, who provides resources for homeless women.

“Earlier this week, the Archewell Foundation team helped prepare a Thanksgiving lunch for over 300 residents of the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) in Los Angeles,” the post on Archewell’s website reads. “DWC provides a wide range of resources to reduce barriers and end homelessness for all women, including female veterans and their families, women with serious physical and mental health issues, and survivors of domestic violence. .”

The Duchess’ involvement in the Thanksgiving lunch comes after she revealed she enjoys spending Thanksgiving cooking for her loved ones, including her husband and their two children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

“I love to cook, we’ll be home and relax and settle down,” Meghan told Ellen DeGeneres last year of her Thanksgiving plans.

Kate Stephens, Managing Director of Smart Works, said: “At Smart Works, we believe fashion is a force for good. We know that when a woman looks and feels good about herself, she can change her life.

Meghan has been a patron of Smart Works, which has empowered women who need help finding work, since 2019.

It’s not the first time the Duchess has been involved in charity around the holidays, as a post on her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig revealed that charity has always been a big part of traditions. Meghan’s Thanksgiving Day.

“Despite the contrast in my two worlds growing up, there was a powerful commonality: Both my parents came from little, so they made the choice to give a lot – buying turkeys for homeless shelters on Thanksgiving, delivering meals to palliative care patients, give any spare change in their pocket to those who ask for it, and perform quiet acts of grace – whether it’s a hug, a smile or a pat on the back to show those who need it need they would be fine,” the Duchess previously wrote, according to People.
