Megan Thee Stallion Breaks Bond With Jimin, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj – Forbes

Megan Thee Stallion has been on a winning streak throughout 2024. The rapper, newly independent after leaving the label she was signed with for much of her career, is churning out hits left and right, making this particularly fruitful – and successful – chapter. The Grammy winner’s latest album became a huge chart hit, and upon its arrival, she broke ties with many superstars and emerged as one of the most successful artists of the year.

“Wanna Be,” Stallion’s collaboration with rapper GloRilla, debuts this week at No. 1 on the digital song sales chart. The melody sounds first on Signposts ranking of the songs that actually sold the most copies in the United States during the last image.

Stallion is now the first musician to earn more than one No. 1 on the digital song sales chart this year. Before this week, 10 musicians had all landed a single winner. “Wanna Be” marks the first collaboration to reign this year and brings Stallion back to the top.

So far, all of these musicians are leading the digital song sales chart in 2024: Ariana Grande, Benson Boone, Beyoncé, Cardi B, Jack Harlow, Jimin, Nicki Minaj, Teddy Swims and Tracy Chapman. Several of them, like Beyoncé, Boone and Swims, have controlled the rankings for more than one frame with the same cut, but until now, none of them had reigned with more than a single title .

This past February, Stallion landed her No. 1 spot on the 2024 Digital Song Sales chart. She debuted “Hiss” not only topping that buy-only list, but also No. 1 on the Hot 100 “Hiss” arrived with over 100,000 pure buys, as it was driven at the time by a feud between Stallion and Minaj.

“Wanna Be” launches at the top of the sales chart with 16,000 copies sold, according to Luminate. That puts it more than 3,000 copies ahead of the runner-up, Boone’s “Beautiful Things.”

Stallion and GloRilla almost debuted “Wanna Be” in the top 10 on the Hot 100 this week, but they just missed that mark. Their joint single instead launches at number 11 on this all-important tally. The song introduces GloRilla’s new project Ehhthang Ehhthangwhich debuted in the top 20 of the Billboard 200.
