In his role as Ambassador, Pat will use his great notoriety as a respected athlete to support and advocate for the world’s leading children’s organization.
“I am honored to announce my new role as Ambassador for UNICEF Australia, joining Australia’s leading children’s charity to play a role in protecting vulnerable children,” said the fast bowler.
“I will devote my time to supporting UNICEF Australia’s campaigns, traveling to see their programs and helping in any way I can. Becoming a father has been and will continue to be an amazing adventure and Becky and I have thought a lot about how we can support the less fortunate children.
One program that Pat holds dear and directly helps fund and support is the Indi Kindi Program – a revolutionary mobile early years program for children under five in remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. .
“Indi Kindi is giving Indigenous children the best start in life by integrating health, nutrition, wellness and culture along with early learning in the outdoors, which is a fantastic initiative and a program that I would particularly like to support, ”said the Australian captain.
UNICEF Australia CEO Tony Stuart said Pat has supported UNICEF Australia since reaching out to the children’s fund during the devastating second wave of COVID-19 in India.
“Pat has a big heart, and not only did he generously donate when India was in crisis, but he wanted to know what else he could do,” he said.
“On his way home he then turned his attention to what he could do here and one of the big challenges we have in Australia is early education, especially within indigenous communities. As a new father, Pat felt a natural connection to the Indi Kindi program as a cause he wanted to support more.
