KUALA LUMPUR (July 31): Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to lead the initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a core of digital ASEAN.

This collaboration will kick off with a white paper prepared by both parties on identifying and developing key elements to realize Malaysia’s aspiration to become the regional digital hub.

“Through our partnership with Huawei, we aim to gain insight and knowledge to solve the problems and challenges facing the digital ecosystem in Malaysia.

“We aim to be prepared with solutions to enable and facilitate capacity building to realize the full potential of Malaysia’s digital economy through digital adoption and digital talent development,” said the CEO of Malaysia. MDEC, Surina Shukri, in a statement.

The objective of this memorandum of understanding is to develop a robust digital economy, including an infrastructure of information and communications technologies, applied innovative technologies (5G, artificial intelligence, big data, Internet of things), talents in digital technology and digital connectivity.

This partnership will see the sharing of best practices and knowledge sharing between the two parties, with Huawei taking the lead in providing technical and business advisory strategies and support.

MDEC and Huawei will continue to conduct joint research and services related to digital technologies by working with various government agencies to publish white paper studies with the aim of improving Malaysia’s digital economy, he said. .

According to Huawei, for sustainable growth in all sectors, talent development is one of the key areas to focus on that will be included as part of the digital hub to highlight the importance of nurturing qualified digital talent and fostering a new wave of digital workforce in the future.
