The untimely death of Ayrton Senna in 1994 was one of the most unfortunate events in the history of motorsport, so much so that McLaren has named a car to honor him after two decades. The newest member of the Ultimate series, the Senna, is a look back at the achievements of the Brazilian racing driver, catapulting McLaren into the pedestal of motorsport in the 1990s.
With three world championships in Formula 1 drivers to his credit, Senna deserves the admiration of fans of McLaren and motorsport. What if the British brand paid homage to Senna in 1995?
Abimelec Design reinvents the Senna as an icon of the 90s, and thinks it looks great. the 1995 Senna is strongly inspired by F1 LM of the same year and adapts the central driving position of the Le Mans competitor.
However, it has design gaps to distinguish the McLaren’s ultimate tribute from the Le Mans car. Changes include the use of the darker orange paint of the modern Senna with bare carbon fiber accents, instead of the papaya paint job of the F1 LM. Abimelec, however, did not limit the color to orange, as it dropped other samples of its rendering, but in different paint jobs.
Design changes also include a revamped bumper and hood air intakes that pass through the front wheels. At the rear, the Senna from the 90s receives the exhaust pipes integrated into the body of the modern Senna, as well as the diffusers. Gold accents are also present throughout the example rendered.
We really think that Abimelec managed to rethink the Senna for the 90s. Maybe, just maybe, this car existed in parallel, honoring Ayrton Senna earlier.
