Burlington, Iowa (May 22, 2022) – Defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion Tim McCreadie put on a dominating performance Sunday night at 34 Raceway in Iowa, leading wire to wire in the CRST The Transportation Solution Inc. main event for his 30th Career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory.
McCreadie raced uncontested for the last of the race and won the race by nearly 10 seconds, a half-lap ahead of a tight finish for second place between Brandon Sheppard and Earl Pearson Jr. Pearson closed in quickly into the final two circuits on the current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Points Leader.
Garrett Alberson, one of five contenders for O’Reilly Auto Parts Rookie of the Year, had his best result in the series taking fourth place at the finish. Hudson O’Neal, who won at 34 when the series last appeared in 2019, came in fifth.
In a race with no warning, McCreadie had no trouble negotiating turn traffic as he climbed back to ninth. Sheppard attempted to move to the top of the running surface, but lost ground to McCreadie, who stuck to the bottom of the track. Pearson came on strong at the end and finished a car length behind runner-up Sheppard in the ladies.
In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the second time in 2022, McCreadie thanked a multitude of people for bringing him into the winner’s circle. “That speaks volumes for Longhorn Chassis. Justin Labonte and Steve Arpin in the shop. It hasn’t been easy for us this year. just improving ourselves. That car was perfect tonight. At the start I could ride in the middle there, unfortunately the top was really squishy in three and four tonight, it was kind of crowned there. The team The track guy did a really good job with what we had to work with. I appreciate that they got the track smooth. I know they were trying, I didn’t think it ran badly.
Sheppard crossed the finish line for another second-place finish for the weekend after finishing second Friday night at Farley ahead of Tyler Erb. “Congratulations to Timmy, he did a great job there. We had another solid night to ourselves. I had a very good car there. I moved and tried everything. I think my tires overheated trying to shove this thing. I went down and didn’t feel good down there. I moved everywhere to know where I had to be on the track. It was another solid night for this Rocket house car team.
Looking for his 40th career series win, Pearson was edged out to the finish by Sheppard. “I found a different line in the traffic. I could get up high in one and two and do a backstroke straight away. 50 laps in total and no warnings. I can’t say enough about what the track people have done here. I appreciate all the fans who came out here on a Sunday afternoon to make this happen. We are proud to come in third here and hopefully that will give us some momentum ahead of Wheatland .
The winner’s Longhorn Donald and Gena Bradsher/Paylor Motorsports chassis is powered by a Cornett racing engine and sponsored by Mega Plumbing of the Carolinas, Mega Plumbing HVAC, Armslist.com, New Point Lighting and Design, Bilstein Shocks, Racing for Heroes, The Aesthetic Haus, Walker Performance Filtration and Baker Mitchell Company.
