Kylian Mbappe has refused to confirm whether he played his final Champions League match at Paris Saint-Germain following their semi-final second leg defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Mbappé announced in February that he would leave PSG on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

Real Madrid are the hot favorites to sign him, but no details on Mbappe’s destination have yet been confirmed.

The 25-year-old striker helped PSG win another Ligue 1 title this season and still has the Coupe de France final to play against Lyon on May 25, where a victory would earn him an 11th major domestic trophy.

But European success proved elusive, with Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Dortmund – sealing a 2-0 aggregate defeat – ensuring he never realized the club’s dream of winning the Champions League.

When asked if he played his last European match with PSG, he replied: “This season, for sure, he should.

“Of course we are disappointed, we wanted to qualify for the final. In the Champions League, you have to be efficient in two areas, and on this point they were better than us so there you go.

“We are disappointed for the supporters, for our loved ones, but that’s how it is. It’s a long process, but we showed this season that we are capable of going far. I think the club is not far away.

“We had the ingredients to win, but like I said, in a Champions League match you have to be efficient in the box. We were not effective in both games.

Mbappe – who rolled his eyes when asked by a reporter if he would support Real Madrid in their decider against Bayern Munich tomorrow – denied PSG had been complacent in their preparation to face Dortmund , the least popular team in the competition.

“Certainly not. If we don’t convince ourselves that we can win, who will do it for us? he said. “No one. I don’t think that’s the problem, the group was calm like it has been since the start of the season.

“But everything is not to be ruined, there are still goals, a Coupe de France final. We will continue to work and try to win.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has thrown his support behind coach Luis Enrique, even though PSG have failed again in Europe’s top competition.

Asked by the media if there were now any doubts about the Spaniard’s future, he replied: “Are you serious with this question? Don’t understand football?

“Our goal was really to go to the final, even further, but we are proud. We had the youngest team in Europe, we made three semi-finals in five years, although our goal does not stop there.
