A few weeks ago, rumors swirled that a new PS5 model was hitting stores. Finally, Sony advertised it as accurate as it is their new CFI-1200 model. However, some fans have noticed that the new PS5 is lighter than previous PS5 models. And this lighter weight could be a key for Sony to earn more profit.

Sony can make huge profits with the new PS5

Tech YouTuber, Austin Evans, recently broke down the latest Playstation 5 CFI-1200, alongside older models, CFI-1100 and CFI-1000, to inspect the new PS5. After the teardown, he concluded that Sony had worked on every corner of the new PS5.

Then another big change he noticed is that the new PlayStation 5 got a complete overhaul when it comes to the cooling system. It had a much smaller heat sink than the old ones. Also, the heat pipes didn’t have much coverage this time around.

The CFI-1200 had a smaller motherboard than the previous two models. This is one of the crucial elements that can significantly affect the price of a device. He even reported that the latest model requires less power than the previous two models to operate. It’s possible Sony will cut a few corners to create the best PS5.

Many console companies use cheaper hardware in their consoles when upgrading and looking for ways to get the most out of it. In this way, they avoid losing performance while decreasing the manufacturing expenses of a console. If this new model of PlayStation 5 costs less to build than the old ones, selling it at the currently increased price will help Sony make a significant profit.
