“I think Diaz ran a clinic in Ankeny, about ten minutes from Des Moines,” Margolis said. “Nick Maximov, he wrestled with Clackamas. I struggled in Clackamas before being transferred to Grand View. He was there a year before me so we didn’t fight as a team together, but we keep in touch, we know him. He is a good supporter of the program. I practiced a bit with him. He let me know that they were coming to Des Moines town. He asked me for places to go and stuff like that and told me to come downtown.

After about half a second of debating whether to go downtown, Margolis met Maximov and, of course, the most anticipated thing of all time happened: Margolis came face to face with face with one of the biggest stars in UFC history.
“To be honest, I didn’t really know Diaz would be there,” said Margolis. “Nick let me know he was there so we met and hung out and I didn’t see Diaz at the start. I told Nick what was going on and he introduced me to some of his buddies and we were hanging out together and then I watch and Nate Diaz is right there.
