WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry appeared on BT Sports’ The Run-In to promote WrestleMania 37. The conversation turned to Daniel Bryan and Henry’s unlikely bond with him. WWE Hall of Famer student Shawn Michaels, Bryan was an unlikely hiring for WWE in 2010. Henry revealed he had a blow to Bryan, including faking a few details of his credentials. Bryan.
“I had to lie in everyone’s face for Daniel Bryan to watch,” Henry revealed. “They wanted guys who were tall and huge. And I said ‘this guy is like 6’1, 200 pounds. He can do it.
“Then he got in there and they were like ‘this guy isn’t 6’1!’ And I said he must have lifts in his shoes.
Once he gets Bryan in the door, the rest is history. Bryan has appeared in two world title matches at WrestleMania, and will appear in his third this Sunday. Henry wasn’t surprised, saying Bryan’s ability was enough for his height to become a moot point.
“But I knew he was really good,” Henry said. “Sometimes when you’re really good, it doesn’t matter how tall you are. And he was one of those guys I knew. I was like ‘dude this guy is a really really great wrestler, great psychologist.’
“He was already struggling. They didn’t have to show him how to do anything, they didn’t have to wait long. And he managed to do it.
Bryan will compete in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night Two, taking on Roman Reigns and Edge for the WWE Universal Championship.
