Margot Robbie has revealed there are still abuse issues in Hollywood following the #MeToo movement.

The social movement went viral in 2017 following numerous sexual abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lawrence and Uma Thurman leading a number of high profile stars discussing their experiences.

Speaking at BAFTA: A Life In Pictures, backed by electronics brand TCL, in London on Tuesday night, he was asked how his experiences in the industry had changed after #MeToo.

The 2019 film was based on sexual harassment allegations made by Fox News employees against network founder Roger Ailes.

Margot played Kayla Pospisil, a fictional character based on several real-life female stories, alongside Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly and Nicole Kidman as Gretchen Carlson.

She revealed: “It’s this deep dive into what sexual harassment can be in the workplace.

“I realized that as someone with an established position in the industry, financially established and empowered, I didn’t know the definition of sexual harassment, and that’s shocking, that’s terrible.

“It horrified me how – how this crime plays into a gray area. Roger Ailes or Harvey Weinstein, they take advantage of the field. The situation is not black or white.

Ailes died in 2017, aged 77, from a subdural hematoma.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York in 2020 in connection with convictions for third-degree rape in 2013 and performing forcible oral sex in 2006.

He is currently involved in a criminal trial related to rape and sexual assault allegations in Los Angeles, where he faces up to 60 years in prison.
