Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt do very well in the first trailer for Paramount’s Babylon. The trailer takes us back to 1920s Hollywood with the Barbie star, who will play budding actress and free spirit Nellie LaRoy. The teaser opens with her asking, “If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?” And it seems that nothing will stand in the way of Nellie’s hope for fame and pleasure. “It’s written in the stars: I’m a star,” she continues. “If I had money, I’d only spend it on fun things, you know? Not boring things like taxes. I just want everyone to party forever.” Pitt’s character, Jack Conrad, is also driven by debauchery, as he has seen him dance to the point of falling. But he’s not just your average Hollywood heartthrob. Looking at the two characters in the trailer, one thing is very clear: we’re off on a wild ride. The film is described as “a tale of overweening ambition and outrageous excess”, according to the official synopsis. Babylon will be released in select theaters on December 25.
