Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg emailed his staff on Saturday, assuring them their safety was ‘a top priority’ after former President Donald Trump called on his supporters to protest his supposed indictment imminent.

“We do not tolerate attempts to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York City,” Bragg said in the memo, which was obtained by NBC News from a senior official in the New York City District Attorney’s Office. Manhattan.

Bragg’s office investigated Trump’s connection to a silent payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels during his first run for president in 2016. In a social media post on Saturday, Trump said he s expected to be arrested on Tuesday, citing leaks from the “corrupt” prosecutor’s office. He urged his supporters to demonstrate on his behalf.

“THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FROM FAR AND FAR, WILL BE ARRESTED TUESDAY NEXT WEEK,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social social media site early Saturday morning. “PROTEST, TAKE BACK OUR NATION!”

A grand jury heard testimony related to the 2016 win in lower Manhattan state criminal court, but no public announcement has been made on when or whether Trump will be charged. New York law enforcement has taken security measures in the event the former president faces a criminal charge.

Bragg’s email did not directly reference Trump or his comments, but he reassured staffers that he is “committed to maintaining a safe work environment.” The email was first reported by Politico. Bragg said his office will continue to coordinate with officials from the New York Police Department and the Office of Courts Administration.

“Our law enforcement partners will ensure that any specific or credible threats against the office are fully investigated and that the appropriate safeguards are in place so that the 1,600 of us all of us have a safe working environment,” Bragg wrote.
