German tuner Manhart takes the latest competition BMW M3 and rules it to create the unique MH3 GTR. The company gives the fast sedan comprehensive powertrain, suspension and styling upgrades.
The MH3 GTR continues to use the S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six. Manhart’s MHtronik auxiliary drive unit boosts power to 641 horsepower (478 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet of torque. It’s a healthy upgrade from the factory output of 503 hp (375 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm).

Manhart also offers several exhaust upgrades. The standard configuration uses stainless steel pipes with valves to control the sound and output from four 3.9 inch (100 millimeter) diameter mouthpieces. Outlets are also available with a carbon or ceramic coated finish.
The tuner offers an Otto particulate filter delete with 200-cell catalytic converters, sports downpipes with 300-cell catalytic converters or a racing setup without cats. However, these parts are not TÜV approved for road use in Germany, but Manhart offers the components for export.
The MH3 GTR should handle the road a bit better than the already impressive capability of the M3 Competition. The buyer can select either the Manhart Variant 4 coilovers setup which uses KW components or just a lowering kit with H&R springs.
Manhart leaves brake stock. However, if the buyer of the MH3 GTR wants to upgrade them, the tuner is ready to make these changes.
The company is making some changes to the styling of the M3 Competition. The MH3 GTR has a dark gray body with lighter gray stripes on the hood, rear deck and trunk lid. The body gains carbon parts for the aerodynamic cops in the front corners, the side skirts, the rear spoiler and the diffuser.
The sedan rolls on six-spoke-pair wheels and measures 9×20 inches in the front and 10.5×20 inches in the rear. They have a satin black finish in these photos, but Manhart can give them a different color if that’s what the customer wants.
The only interior revision is a pair of Recaro Podium front seats with a full carbon fiber shell. The Manhart logo is engraved under the headrest.
Manhart’s announcement does not disclose the price of the MH3 GTR. For reference, a 2023 M3 Competition starts at $77,695 (after $995 destination charge) with rear-wheel drive or $81,795 with all-wheel drive.
