Dusan Vlahovic impresses ahead of the January transfer window, scoring another goal for Fiorentina this weekend.
The 21-year-old, who is quickly becoming one of football’s hottest properties, continues to find the net in Italy, scoring his side’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Empoli.
It was his 11e goal of the season in the league, making him the top scorer in Serie A, ahead of Ciro Immobile, Paulo Dybala and Duvan Zapata.
This follows a 21-goal league campaign last season, and his scoring prowess has seen him linked with many top clubs across Europe.
Serie A giants Juventus are said to be leading the race on his signing and still looking to fill the void left by talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Old Lady currently below Fiorentina in seventh place in the Serie TO.
Ironically, United could also possibly replace 36-year-old Ronaldo with Vlahovic, while Tottenham and Arsenal have also been credited with interest.
Ronaldo started the Premier League game against Chelsea on the bench in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, although he was presented as a second-half substitute.
Serbian international Vlahovic’s contract in Tuscany expires in 2023 and the forward has reportedly turned down a new deal with Fiorentina looking to sell before the start of next season or risk losing it for free.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims La Viola wants around € 80million to let the striker go in January – that doesn’t seem like a bad price for a 21-year-old who can’t seem to stop finding the back of the net this season.
Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are the young forwards everyone seems to want to talk about, but perhaps more attention should be paid to Vlahovic, who could be ready for an imminent big-money move.
Former Italy international Christian Vieri has said the Fiorentina striker should not be sacked during talks about the best young talents in European football.
“I think after Haaland and Mbappe he is one of the strongest in Europe,” Vieri said this summer.
“He has quality, technique. He’s Serbian and they’re all technically good. They are called the Brazilians of the East.
