The ten-year-old Manchester United fan who wanted Liverpool to lose has fulfilled his wish – in the most amazing way.
Daragh Curley sent a letter to Jurgen Klopp calling for the Reds to finally lose after playing 44 undefeated Premier League games in pursuit of an Invincible season.
Klopp actually responded to the Red Devils supporter, writing, “Unfortunately, on this occasion, I cannot accede to your request, not by choice anyway.
“As much as you want Liverpool to lose, it’s my job to do everything I can to help Liverpool win because there are millions of people around the world who want this to happen, so I really don’t want them to drop. “
And even if it was against Klopp’s will, Daragh’s dream came true when Liverpool were stunned by Watford on Saturday with the Hornets, who fought in relegation, winning 3-0 at Vicarage Road.
In all honesty, Watford’s victory should have been equal more convincing with goalkeepers Troy Deeney and Ismaila Sarr both missing glorious chances to amass even more misery on the Reds.
Saturday night may have been miserable for Liverpool, but it was only smiles for Daragh.
“He had a little jump in joy every time Watford scored well,” the schoolboy’s father, Gordon, told The Sun.
Unfortunately for Daragh, he couldn’t watch the 90 minutes of Liverpool Hertfordshire humiliation.
“We only caught pieces from the Liverpool game, but we got most of the second half,” added Gordon.
“Munster was also on rugby type victories here. We have all [Watford] the goals live however.
It’s not bad for Liverpool, however.
Sure, they may no longer be the Invincibles, but with 22 points between them and second place Man City, a very first Premier League title is almost certainly headed for Anfield in the coming weeks.
