Manchester United are considering a potential move for Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, according to talkSPORT.
The Bosnian, 35, becomes the 13th player linked with the Red Devils in the past 24 hours as the club desperately seek solutions to their disastrous start to the season.
Although there are more pressing areas out there, United are also looking for an experienced understudy for David de Gea and former Bournemouth goalkeeper Begovic fits the bill.
De Gea, 31, remains first choice at Old Trafford despite a disastrous display in the 4-0 loss at Brentford.
The Spain international didn’t cover himself in glory for the first two goals, allowing Josh Dasilva’s tame effort to slip past him before handing the ball to Christian Eriksen under pressure for Mathias Jensen’s strike.
And Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has suggested manager Erik ten Hag would want a more accomplished ball player between the posts.
“I go back to the importance Ten Hag places on his goalkeeper, on the ball,” Carragher said, referring to the 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Matchday 1.
“For him he thinks he has a back three and the keeper is a player. But the problem is that this keeper is not good enough with the ball.
England international Dean Henderson recently joined Nottingham Forest on loan from United and gave a damning interview about his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old has revealed the Red Devils let him ‘smoke’ for what he described as ‘criminal’ treatment during the 2021/22 campaign.
Henderson told talkSPORT he was promised the No.1 spot after an impressive loan spell with Sheffield United but only made five appearances after contracting COVID early in the campaign.
