Marcel Sabitzer could be on his way to the Premier League as Manchester United make a final bid to sign the midfielder on deadline day.
talkSPORT understands United are in talks with Bayern Munich over Sabitzer as manager Erik Ten Hag looks to add some extra cover to his squad after Christian Eriksen was ruled out until April.
Sabitzer could head to the Premier League on deadline day
Eriksen was injured against Reading in the FA Cup last weekend and was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches.
The Dane has now been ruled out for several weeks, leaving United with no choice but to re-enter the transfer market at the end of this month.
Sabitzer has been identified as the replacement and with Bayern happy to let his midfielder go, the Red Devils are looking to loan him out with an option to buy.
The Austrian is struggling to find a starting spot in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad and hasn’t started a game for the club since early November.
In total, he has played 54 games and has scored just twice since joining German champions RB Leipzig from fellow Bundesliga side.
Sabitzer could join Man United on deadline day
His time at Leipzig is where he made a name for himself, with the official Bundesliga website comparing his playing style to that of United legend David Beckham.
Sabitzer has been described as “a goalscoring midfielder with killer set-piece technique”, making his best performances reminiscent of Beckham.
He made over 200 appearances for Die Roten Bullen, scoring 52 goals while amassing 68 caps for Austria, earning praise from his international boss.
Former Austrian manager Franco Foda said: “Marcel is a player who gives everything for 90 minutes, does a lot for the team and works a lot defensively.
“He runs a lot, has technical moments and scores goals.”

Sabitzer made a name for himself at RB Leipzig
While at Leipzig, he was part of a side that knocked Man United out of the Champions League in the 2020/21 season.
He provided an assist for Angelino who opened the scoring in a 3-2 victory to send the Red Devils to the Europa League.
After a difficult couple of seasons since joining Bayern, he hopes a move to the Premier League could help revive his form.
And Erik ten Hag obviously thinks Sabitzer is the man to fill the void left by Eriksen’s untimely injury blow.
