Chances came and went for Carlo Ancelotti’s side before Phil Foden fired a perfect left-footed strike into the top corner to make it 2-2.

Enough drama? No.

Josko Gvardiol then scored another brilliant goal, his first for City, to turn things around for a second time before a sublime Fede Valverde volley ensured the second leg would be level.
