Manchester United have received an offer from Galatasaray to loan Hannibal Mejbri, according to reports in Turkey.
United signed Mejbri from Monaco in 2019, when he was still only 16 years old. After a few years of progressing through their academy, he made his Premier League debut on the final day of the 2020-21 season. Now the club must carefully analyze what would be the appropriate next step for its development.
Thanks to its impressive form in the under 23s, United tied Mejbri to a contract until 2026 in March. But he might not be spending all those years at Old Trafford.
According to Fotomac in Turkey, Galatasaray presented a loan offer for the midfielder. They are now eagerly awaiting United’s response.
Last season’s Turkish Super Lig finalist, Galatasaray can offer Champions League football Mejbri as long as he sails through the qualifying rounds.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed with Mejbri’s progress but is reportedly considering sending him on loan. He knows first-team opportunities will be relatively difficult to find at Old Trafford.
If he would get more playing time at Galatasaray, only the Turkish side knows. But it could be an interesting avenue for him until the time is right for him to have more of an impact in Manchester.
Mejbri has contributed four goals and eight assists in 20 appearances in the 2020-21 edition of Premier League 2.
Now, senior football could grab attention – but it may not be at United right now.

Solskjaer to make striker decision
Another youngster facing an uncertain short-term future at United is Facundo Pellistri, who joined in October 2020 and ended the campaign on loan with Alaves.
The right-winger has made 12 La Liga appearances and impressed Alaves enough to want him back next season.
According to Noticias de Allava, tThe Spanish club want to sign the striker again on loan.
Last month Calciomercato claimed that Alaves officials agreed to the loan extension, on condition that they first obtained their prominent status. Alaves did so with two wins in their last three matches.
United are said to be “planning to discuss” their path for Pellistri this week. Solskjaer has to decide whether another loan will benefit the Montevideo-born striker, or whether he returns to their Under-23 squad or the first squad.
The Spanish outlet reports that “everything suggests” that another loan period is likely. They also suggest that Solskjaer appears to have broken his transfer promise to the player.
The claim is that Solskjaer promised the Penarol chiefs that Pellistri would go “straight to the first team”.
