Maisie Smith, 21, reveals her family are supportive of her relationship with Max George, 34,

Maisie Smith has revealed her mother has “never seen me so happy” as she opened up about her relationship with Max George.

The former EastEnders actress, 21, and The Wanted singer, 34, made their first TV appearance as a couple on Thursday’s episode of Loose Women.

Speaking about the reaction to their relationship, Maisie said: “The people we allow into our lives are so happy. Mom has never seen me so happy. That’s all that really matters to me.

Maisie also said that she and Max were friends before they started dating and had “always had a good bond”.

She said: “We have known each other for two years, he has always been a good friend. I’m always nervous for interviews.

“I remember I was pacing thinking ‘what if I could stay empty? “He was the only person who could zen me. We always had a good bond and good trust.

Both Max and Maisie went on the Strictly Come Dancing Tour in 2021 and are said to have been dating soon after.

But talking about how they were friends first, Max admitted that Maisie told him a lot of things he didn’t want to know when they got to know each other.

He said: “When we had the Strictly tour she told me everything – way too much. About boys, stuff I don’t want to know!

When asked if they planned to live in Manchester or London, Maisie replied: “We are going to live in London, he has somewhere in Manchester which I do.”

‘I’m touring at the moment for Striclty Ballroom. We’re in Guilford at Christmas, so I’m going to drag Max and my family and we’re going to stay in a cabin.

“I bought a small tree from the pound and we are going to make it really beautiful.”

The couple also talked about going public with their romance on social media.

Max explained: “Speculation drove this more than we would have at first, but once it was there, we do everything here, it kind of felt like it was there. .”

“If we do something, might as well post it because there’s nothing we’re not doing.”

It comes after the couple replied “concerned” about their 13-year age gap during their first joint interview as a couple.

The former soap opera actress would have been just nine years old when The Wanted singer shot to fame and released her debut single in 2010.

Max and Maisie have addressed their controversial age gap, with the musician insisting that “it never crosses my mind” and that he “admires” Maisie, despite being his youngest.

The couple made their relationship official in August and moved in together just weeks after meeting while on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.

Maisie addressed the backlash in this week’s issue of Hello! magazine, telling fans that she “never” noticed the age difference due to the couple being like-minded.

She said: “People ask me, ‘Do you notice that? and I never have. We share so many of the same ideas. I have friends in their thirties and forties. You connect with who you connect with.

Max added: “It never crosses my mind. Maisie has done so much already that I’m in awe – I look up to her.

Maisie described her romance with the boyband idol as “every girl’s dream”.

She added: “When I get off a train, Max will be standing on the platform with a bouquet of flowers and I feel like I’m in a movie.” It’s every girl’s dream and I found it at Max.

The couple also opened up about their journey from friendship to romance, with sparks starting to fly when the cast and crew of Strictly went on a group vacation to Portugal this summer.

Max said: “Towards the end of the holidays, I could feel that I was looking at her differently. I thought, “What’s going on here?” I was nervous enough to see if it was mutual.

He described their first kiss as ‘mental’, while Maisie compared the passion to ‘fireworks’.
