Machine Gun Kelly has spoken again about a miscarriage he and Megan Fox allegedly suffered last year.
The couple initially sparked marriage and pregnancy rumors earlier in May at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. While Kelly was on stage performing her General public sale ballad “Twin Flame”, he announced to the public that he “wrote this song for my wife”. Later, halfway through the song, he again interrupted the performance to add, “And this is for our unborn child”, a line not present in the official recording of the song. Although some interpreted the cry as a pregnancy announcement, fans online believed Kelly was actually referring to a miscarriage he and Fox had experienced, alluding to the song’s backstory that the musician himself even wrote in an accompaniment. General public sale Zine.
In the zine, Kelly explains that “Twin Flame”, which includes the sound of a heartbeat in the production, was made in two separate bursts. “The second part of [‘twin flame’] came almost two years later,” he wrote. “Well, actually, it started as a song called ‘One Day and 10 Weeks’. Then I did a song called ‘Last November.’ Neither of them expressed the sadness we felt at because of what I will leave private, and I came back to [‘twin flame’] and decided to add to the story. Our history.”
Kelly and Fox have never spoken publicly about the miscarriage, however, Kelly apparently spoke again about what happened with the release of the song “Last November”, the same track he refers to in the zine. .
On Friday, the singer and rapper released the deluxe version of his album Consumer Sale, on which he added five unreleased songs including “Last November”. The song is another acoustic ballad with Kelly on guitar and seemingly finds him singing for his unborn child.
“You didn’t wake up today/ I couldn’t see your face, mm/ Was it my fault?” Was it karma? / Was your fate in the hands of my conscience? / ‘Cause you didn’t wake up today, yeah,” are the lyrics that open the song.
Later, on the second verse of the track, Kelly seems to be a bit more specific and addresses the miscarriage directly with the lines: “One day and another ten weeks/ I never even heard your heartbeat/ The year last one feels like a past life. / We said “Forever”, the very first night, yeah.” They align directly with what Kelly previously wrote in his zine, and it’s clear that this was a difficult and painful time for the singer.
On the chorus of the song, Kelly wonders if he could have done something different to prevent what happened: “So sad we ended up here/ So sad, but it’s all clear/ Could I save your life if I hit rewind?/ I wish I could go back to November of last year. However, the singer seems to find some form of acceptance by the time the bridge comes along, “Obviously I never meant to write this song/Promise me when the stars shine bright/You’ll bring me a comet to show me you’re still there / Eternally.
Prior to the release of “Last November”, Kelly caught on Twitter to say that the song “‘is the truth behind the second half of ‘twin flame. fi, “Go to sleep/ I’ll see you in my dreams/ That changes everything/ Now I gotta set you free.
As of press time, Kelly and Fox have yet to publicly comment on the miscarriage. The two officially announced their engagement in January. Kelly has a daughter, Casie, from a previous relationship.
