Luke Littler has refused to admit he is the best darts player in the world despite winning the Premier League last time out.

The 17-year-old confirmed his place in the play-offs on Thursday night with a 6-4 final win over Rob Cross on night 14.

His latest victory looks to allow him to continue his meteoric rise in darts, which began by reaching the World Championship final in January.

Littler, despite his age, exudes calm behind the oche and many believe he is the best in the business this early in his career.

However, the teenager played down feelings he is the best player in the world following his win at Aberdeen.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he was asked: “If you say yes, it’s not arrogant, it’s nothing, do you feel like you’re the best player in the world right now?”

“No,” Littler quickly replied with a smile on his face, and when asked if world number 1 Luke Humphries was, he shrugged and replied: “I don’t know, not me .”

He then laughed before collecting his trophy, the one which celebrates his third victory in his first season in the Premier League.

Littler faced Nathan Aspinall for the first time on the night and silenced some of the crowd immediately after sealing his 6-5 victory.

It remains to be seen what caused him to react this way, but it certainly didn’t seem to distract him for the rest of the night.

Littler was asked if he was the best in the world, but he said no.

In the semi-final he beat Michael Smith 6-1 to set up a clash with Cross in which he emerged victorious.

Such a victory keeps him top of the Premier League table with 36 points, eight ahead of Humphries with two nights remaining.

Littler’s first victory came on night nine in Belfast and he made it back-to-back wins a week later in Manchester.

He then triumphed at Liverpool last week and did it again this time at Aberdeen, with Leeds and Sheffield the final stops before the play-offs in London.
