Amid a break from filming ABC’s “American Idol,” Katy Perry thought she heard fellow judge Luke Bryan discussing “dope” with her son on FaceTime.
Bryan explained that it was an honest mistake.
“I was FaceTiming my 14-year-old son, and I was on the set of ‘American Idol,'” Bryan shared on the “Rob + Holly” podcast.
“So Katy listens to me talking to my 14-year-old son, and he’s like, ‘Dad, do we have doe pee around here?’ which is deer urine. … She said to me, ‘Did your son just ask you if you have any drugs in the house?'”

Much to his amusement, Bryan had to clarify that he was talking about the urine of a female deer.
“I said, ‘Katy, he’s asking for doe pee,’ and she said, ‘Like animal urine? I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s what we use to bring in a lot of money.'”
On the podcast, Bryan was talking about living and hunting on his sprawling Nashville property when he reminisced with his son and Perry.

Bryan has been married to his wife Caroline since 2006. They have two sons together: Thomas, 14, and Tatum, 12.
“I’m sorry for her and Lionel [Richie] and the country education they must be getting from me,” Bryan added hilariously of the antics on the “American Idol” set.

Bryan assured that his fellow judges reciprocated: “They educate me on the ins and outs of crazy California, the world of Beverly Hills, and I educate them on, you know, hunting, fishing and fishing. everyday love.”
Bryan, Perry and Ritchie have been judging “American Idol” since the show switched networks in 2018. It originally aired on Fox.
