Spending over two decades in country music, Luke Bryan has used his time in the spotlight to not only release seven studio albums, but also sell over 75 million records. And that’s just the beginning as his music has helped him win the Artist of the Year award not once but five times. Outside of the studio, Bryan also helped aspiring artists realize their dreams as he saw fit. American idol alongside Lionel Richie and Katy Perry. But when it comes to her hobbies, the country star recently detailed her love/hate relationship with fishing.
When you look at country music, there are countless songs around fishing, hunting, drinking, and what it means to be country. While sharing his love for fishing, Bryan explained how the sport causes him to suffer from red eyes and stuffy noses. Luckily, the country singer isn’t allergic to fishing, just bass. That’s right, every angler knows the thrill of wrestling a bass with a net. But to Bryan, a bass means something completely different because of his allergic reaction.
Luke Bryan promises American Idol finale will be ’emotional’
Discussing the discomfort, Bryan told Katie Neal: “If it looks like I’m smoking weed, that’s not true, I caught bass.” Allergic reactions cause enough discomfort that if the singer caught a bass, he would explain how another fisherman had to unhook it so his hands wouldn’t start to swell. Remembering his childhood, Bryan joked that his father refused to give him medicine while he was fishing, telling him to “suck it” when he needed to land a bass.

Currently on American idol, where there are no fish, Bryan dives into his final season with fellow judge Perry. Talk with AND regarding Perry’s departure from the show, the country star said, “It’s kind of like the clock is ticking, every episode is getting closer to the finale where obviously we’re not going to do this together.” And as for the season finale, he promised: “It will be an emotional evening. We know she won’t be there. But we had a hell of a trip. It was funny.”
