Spain look great, as does 52-year-old coach Luis Enrique.
The Spanish boss is looking to guide his side through the final stages of a major tournament for the second time after reaching the Euro 2020 semi-finals and they got off to a perfect start against Costa Rica.
The ex-Barcelona manager was spotted without the shirt as he put his side through their paces ahead of Wednesday afternoon’s game, which ended in a 7-0 win.
Taking to Instagram, Luis Enrique posted a photo of himself wearing nothing but a cap and shorts as he flaunted his impressive six-pack.
The word ‘ready’ ran across the image, while he captioned the post: ‘Day 10 – it’s show time.’
And his team was more than ready, with teenager Gavi being praised by his boss.
“He is unique, very different because he is now 18, but he has the personality of an experienced player.
“It’s a pleasure to play with the boy, because he’s a boy. He needs a bit of calm sometimes but we are very happy to have him in the team.
“I think he’s going to be one of the stars of football
He also revealed he was a huge fan of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after watching the Gunners’ All or Nothing docuseries on Amazon.
Arteta was part of Barcelona’s youth roster when Enrique was a player at Camp Nou.
And he caught the eye of his fellow Spaniard while in charge of the Emirates outfit, as Enrique explained on his Twitch channel: “I watched ‘All or Nothing’.
“I love Mikel Arteta.”
And Enrique also said he was a big fan of extra time at the World Cup, with officials keeping a closer eye on time lost during games.
He remarked, “I really love all the extra time.
“Especially because teams like us who have a lot of ball possession, we always complain that there is not enough time really played.
“So I think it’s wonderful to play so much extra time in both halves, the most efficient (best) time possible.
“Any team can play the way they want, but the more quality minutes played the better.
“So I’m very supportive of this measure, it’s the right thing to do.”
