Lucy Mecklenburgh has revealed that her 18-month-old son Roman had been hospitalized several times before his terrifying run to intensive care because he was suffering from wheezing caused by a virus.
The common condition occurs when the tubes carrying air to the lungs are irritated and inflamed by a cold virus, making it difficult to breathe.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, the former TOWIE star, 30, gave her followers more details about the terrifying family ordeal after revealing Thursday that her son had spent the past week in intensive care.

Lucy wrote: “So many of you asked very kindly in my DMs to share what was wrong with Roman and the signs to watch out for to prevent this from happening to your babies / children and what I have.” did when I found it.
“I totally understand and I don’t want parents to worry every night.
‘Roman has had virus-induced wheezing so a few times over the past two months he wakes up with a mild cold in the morning, he wheezes at lunchtime and on time from dinner we are at A&E because he has trouble breathing.
“We can see that his chest is sucked and working really hard. We usually go out in the morning after the nebulizer, oxygen, and steroids and watch through the night.

She then detailed when she had to rush Roman into intensive care, explaining, “This time, however, he had a little wheezing at lunchtime but no wheezing before bed and he seemed all over the place. Does well except for a snotty nose. ”I still gave her two puffs of her inhaler before going to bed just in case.
“When I heard very silent cries of distress around 4 am, I entered her room. He was blue, gray, soft when I picked him up, in and out of consciousness and sick in his mouth.
“I called 999, cleaned his mouth and gave him his inhaler. I wish I could say I stayed calm, but I really didn’t.
Lucy also revealed that Roman now has to use an inhaler twice a day, which is difficult because “he doesn’t like it”.

The message came after Lucy revealed that Roman had been taken to intensive care and put on a ventilator after finding him “blue in his cot.”
The reality TV star took to Instagram on Thursday to talk to fans about health scares and admitted that she and her partner Ryan Thomas, 37, may “never fully recover.”
Lucy wrote: “As some of you may have noticed, we haven’t been on social media lately. A little over a week ago I found blue romain in bed – possibly every parent’s worst nightmare.
“Without going into both details, Roman was transferred to intensive care at St Mary’s in London on a ventilator.
“Luckily we’re all home now and Roman is back to his cheeky.”
Ryan wrote: “No words can explain how grateful we are to have our baby boy home safe after spending almost a week in intensive care”
Lucy said the experience made her want to get involved in charities for sick children and the hospital where Roman was taken.
She wrote: “I am eternally grateful to the ambulance service for arriving so quickly at Basildon Hospital, the CATS (Children Action Transport Services) team, St Mary’s London PICU and Cosmic Charity (Care babies and children in intensive care).
“I would like to do something in return and help other sick children and their families. I would love to help with the new kindergarten at Basildon Hospital as it is unusable at the moment and I know it would bring so much joy to the children in the wards.
She added, “I would also like to support cosmic charity with a donation from us, and a promise that I will support this charity as much as possible in the future.

“Cosmic Charity is raising significant funds for the Children’s Intensive Care Unit at St Mary’s Hospital in London where Roman was transported when Basildon Hospital simply could not do for him anymore.
“The charity is helping by funding high-tech equipment that helps save the lives of children that the NHS is unable to fund, support and house parents and families on site, which , I can confirm, is greatly appreciated by parents of children in intensive care as well. take a well-deserved rest knowing that they are so close.
“Training and education of health professionals and clinical research on life-threatening childhood illnesses. Funded incubators for babies in intensive care, hundreds of hours of counseling for families and frontline staff. ‘

Lucy ended her post by saying how the experience opened her eyes to all the work done by NHS staff.
She said: “Although mentally, as a family, we may never fully recover, we feel extremely lucky to have our special boy at home in our arms.
“It really opened our eyes to all the superheroes who work hard in our hospitals and dedicate their lives to helping others and how extremely lucky we are to have these amazing free medical services for all of us in the Kingdom.” -United. Thank you NHS and all the charities that support the NHS.

He wrote: “No words can explain how grateful we are to have our baby boy home safe after spending nearly a week in intensive care.
“As parents this has been one of the scariest times of our lives, but thanks to our amazing doctors and nurses we have King Roman playing, smiling and most importantly eating, I want to thank you @nhs and also @cosmic_charity who have been amazing you both really are the real superheroes in life.
