England’s Charley Hull earned her second LPGA Tour victory with a one-shot victory at The Ascendant in Texas.
The 26-year-old Solheim Cup star clocked a 63rd final round at Old American to finish 18 under and edge China’s Lin Xiyu, with New Zealand’s Lydia Ko a stroke further in third.
It was Hull’s first tournament win since the 2016 Tour Championship.
“I’m very proud of myself. I’ve come closer a few times since then, but I’ve done a good job this year,” Hull said.
“I feel really good. I felt like I was in control of my round, especially going in. I could have done more birdies. I had some good putts, but they just rolled overboard .”
On a tense final day, Hull tied with Lin and Ko at the top after 11 holes but then birdied three successive times to open a two-stroke lead.
Lin put pressure on Hull with an eagle on the par five 17th to tie, but Hull responded with a six-foot downhill birdie putt to take a one-stroke lead on the 18th tee.
After Hull putt twice for par on the final green, Lin had a chance to force a play-off, but her birdie effort didn’t get the Kettering player to the win.
“I found it all exciting,” added Hull, who becomes only the sixth English player to win multiple LPGA Tour wins. “When Lin made the eagle at 17, I appreciated that because it made me want to birdie the last one. I hit a good putt. I missed. But it was a lot of fun. “
England’s Jodie Ewart Shadoff shot a second consecutive 70 to finish on three under, with compatriot Georgia Hall a shot further after a final round 69.
Stephanie Meadow of Northern Ireland shot a 73 to end the tournament once, while Scotsman Gemma Dryburgh finished six times after a 75.
