Logan Paul consoles fired WWE wrestler who was fired days after being promised a ‘job for life’

Logan Paul had words of consolation for WWE star Cameron Grimes, who claims he was fired by the company just days after being assured of his job.

The SmackDown star posted a tearful address on his X account after learning he was being released by the grappling giant after five years there.

Former North American Champion and Million Dollar Champion of the company’s NXT brand, North Carolina said in a message titled “Thank you. @WWE’: “This is Trevor Lee, also known as Cameron Grimes.

“I just called WWE and unfortunately I was released from my contract.

“Five years ago, the last thing I could say to my father [was] that I had signed with WWE.

“I loved working here, I loved working at WWE and I want to thank absolutely everyone who helped me.”

Surprisingly, however, Grimes later revealed in an interview that his firing came just days after he was effectively assured of his WWE position for life.

Speaking on Busted Open, he detailed his own insecurities about his job security, subjecting them to a “pretty high-level” framework which, he says, eased his concerns.

“I knew I hadn’t worked in over a year and was making a decent salary,” Grimes explained, referring to his lack of television exposure in WWE over the past 12 months.

“So I knew that if anyone looked at the books, I would be the first person to be removed, if you look at it strictly from a money perspective.

“But if you look at it like, ‘Okay, well, if he’s a talent that can do something for us…’ You know what I mean? They’re going to keep me.

“So a senior manager told me last Friday that I would always have a job here. I would never have to worry about losing my job here, after I had expressed my concerns to him.”

Implying that confiding in this executive had actually cost him his job, Grimes added: “[Then], five days later they called me and told me I was losing my job. So I do not know.”

A charismatic personality, it is likely that Grimes will have no shortage of future work offers in the wrestling industry.

His notable outings for WWE included feuding with legend Ted “Million Dollar Man” DiBiase and LA Knight, as well as winning the North American title at NXT Stand & Deliver 2022.

He has also previously featured on the independent scene and for TNA Wrestling, despite being only 30 years old.

Among those who contacted him immediately after his release from WWE was United States Champion Logan Paul.

Grimes revealed the “megastar” contact when asked about those who offered him words of comfort, saying: “This is going to sound weird because of how much of a star he is, but Logan Paul contacted me.

“I thought it was pretty cool because he really is a megastar, even beyond wrestling.

“He reached out to me and told me things, so that helps me feel good.”

Grimes’ departure from WWE follows a number of other exits from the company, including WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
