Anfield was silenced as Bourmemouth gained a shocking lead over Liverpool at the start of the Premier League on Saturday.
Callum Wilson returned Jefferson Lerma’s pass to goal after just nine minutes of play on Merseyside.
But there was real drama and more frustration with VAR when Liverpool was furious that the goal was allowed to stay.
Wilson, the striker, seemed to push Joe Gomez clearly in preparation for his arrival, Jurgen Klopp’s defense not playing the whistle and continuing to concede a cheap goal.
There was a VAR examination after the ball hit the back of the net, but referee Paul Tierney’s decision was not overturned and the goal remained.
That, of course, infuriated Liverpool players – as well as Reds supporters who turned to social media to blow up the decision.
Fan of Liverpool or not. Gomez should do better but a foul is a foul. You get free kicks these days for intent when there is no contact, so how does Michael Oliver on VAR not see this as a blatant push? A clear and obvious error from VAR.
Deffo is a push, but the defense after her and Gomez moaning rather than playing the whistle only show how the standards have slipped, we were again absolutely pathetic.
