Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has been sacked after a poor start to his career at ADO Den Haag.

The ex-Reds star, who lasted just 176 days in office, was named boss of the Dutch side this summer.

Kuyt became the second-tier team’s fourth boss since Alan Pardew took over in 2020.

The 42-year-old has been relieved of his duties, the club have since confirmed.

It was Kuyt’s first taste of management with the club, but it resulted in the club’s worst start to the season.

Den Haag have lost their first three opening matches of the new campaign, scoring nine goals in the process.

Kuyt then seemed to turn things around with wins over PEC Zwolle and FC Eindhoven.

However, that couldn’t stop the protests from the fans, as his side went on a five-game losing streak, falling to 17th place in the table.

Den Haag then decided to pull the trigger and relieve Kuyt of his duties.

In 2021, the Dutch side were relegated but almost sealed a comeback via the play-offs last season only to lose.

Kuyt, who joined Liverpool from Feyenoord in 2006, has led them to just four wins from his 16 games in the seat.

Since his dismissal, no announcement has yet been made on who will replace him.
