Everton are MORE likely than Liverpool to finish in the Premier League top four this season, talkSPORT has been told.
The Toffees beat their fierce local rivals in Saturday’s Merseyside derby, winning at Anfield for the first time since 1999 to pile more misery on the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have now lost each of their last FOUR Premier League games, as they have also suffered four straight league losses at home for the first time since 1923.
This latest loss saw Liverpool end the weekend five points behind West Ham in fourth and also tied on points with Everton – who are on an upward trajectory as the Reds descend at the same time.
And it’s Carlo Ancelotti’s side that are more likely to claim a top four spot this season than Liverpool, believes Daily Mail reporter Dominic King.
Evaluating the recent Liverpool meltdown, King told Monday’s talkSPORT Breakfast: “The best way to assimilate it is to love a boxer to fight and he has had one punch too many, and can’t do it all. just not get up.
“And that’s what’s happening now; every time someone scores against Liverpool he’s gone… it’s like a punch kicks him out.
“You could see after three or four minutes on Saturday that they weren’t going to come back; they just didn’t have the confidence, the wit, or the courage to try to make Everton trouble and get them where they didn’t want to be.
“They have real, really big problems and it’s a really big order for them now to be in the top four.
“If you ask me, ‘of the two, who is more likely to make the top four?’ It’s Everton, no question.”
