Last week, Ita admitted she had suffered from ageism, but thinks older people are very valuable to the workforce.

“Are we an ageist society? Yes, I think we still are. I mean, you listen to people talk about a shortage of workers; Well, what’s the deal with older people’s employment? It’s people’s biases against older people,” she told Stellar Magazine.

‘You hear it all the time, ‘Oh, they can’t be recycled.’ “They are too old.” It’s wrong. There is a lot of evidence abroad that shows that older people can be retrained, that they adapt to technology, that they are very eager to learn new skills.

“And if you train them properly, they will turn out to be fantastic workers.” They take fewer days off than younger people and they don’t spend all day texting on their phones.”

‘But look, I’m quite happy living my own life. You just take where life takes you. And if it surprises you, it surprises you.
