Current records: Cincinnati 3-2; Detroit 0-5
What there is to know
After two games on the road, the Detroit Lions are heading home. They will face the Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Ford Field. Both teams are looking to let go of their frustrations after losing loved ones recently.
Detroit was close but no cigars last week as they lost 19-17 to the Minnesota Vikings. Detroit’s loss came despite a quality game from RB D’Andre Swift, who scored a touchdown. Swift’s performance made up for a slower clash against the Chicago Bears two weeks ago.
Most of the team’s points came from special teams, who contributed nine. K Austin Seibert delivered a perfect 3v3 game.
Speaking of close games: Cincinnati fought a good fight in their overtime game against the Green Bay Packers last week, but ended up with a less than desirable result, falling 25-22. The loss was even more heartbreaking for the Bengals, who fell 27-24 when the teams previously met in September 2017. Cincinnati’s loss came despite a quality game from WR Ja’Marr Chase, who caught six assists for a touchdown and 159 yards. . Near the top of the climax reel was Joe Burrow’s 70-yard TD bombshell at Chase in the second quarter.
Detroit is expected to lose this next by 3.5. Those who were lucky with them against the spread last week may want to suspend their bets this time around, as the team has yet to streak back-to-back wins against the spread.
These two teams will surely fight tooth and nail to get back to the winning column after last week’s losses. We will see which team satisfies its hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
