Lionel Messi once again showed his irrefutable class with a marvelous free-kick for PSG in their 2-1 win over Nice on Saturday night.
The Argentine icon made it look effortless like never before as he lifted the ball over the wall and into the back of Kasper Schmeichel’s net during their Ligue 1 game at the Parc des Princes.
The game started relatively quietly before Messi took center stage in the 28th minute.
It was he who won the free kick to start as he charged towards the goal.
Dante brought him down on the edge of the box, creating the perfect chance.
Messi of course stepped up to take the free kick.
As he had done 59 times before in his incredible career, the 35-year-old fired the ball into the net.
His 60th free-kick goal left Kasper Schmeichel frozen in place as he struck the back of the net.
In the 21st century, only three players have scored more goals from direct free kicks.
They are David Beckham (65), Ronaldinho (66) and Juninho (77).
Remarkably though, PSG were caught in the second half.
Gaétan Laborde scored an important equalizer for Nice in the 47th minute.
In the end though, the strength of the French champions’ attack took their toll on the visitors.
Kylian Mbappe scored to make it 2-1 in the 83rd minute and snatched all three points for PSG.
