From Sydney Sweeney visiting Marc Jacob’s Heavn store to Mario Kart for iPhone, here are our April favorites!
This month is like summer’s front door drug. It’s sunny, but it’s cold. We can eat outside, but not inside. There were statutory holidays, but not 6 full weeks of school (or work) leave. We just want to enjoy the glory of cancer season and avoid deadlines and all that is remote, but unfortunately there are still good months between us and our dreams. To keep our spirits up, we’ve put together a list of loves that have preserved our sanity and made us feel a little more whole again. If it works for us, it will surely work for you too – but we’re no wellness gurus – so if that doesn’t cure your April blues, don’t sue us!
We guess this one goes without saying, being able to finally take a double vodka and coke in the freezing cold is a testament to the normalcy of British life that we have missed in recent months. Once the weather has cooled, this combo will be unbeatable. See you at The Shacklewell Arms!
Lil Nas X
We just think he’s awesome. Really, really great. His merch, coded by Pizzaslime, for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” is pretty cool too! You can find it here.
If you’ve ever wondered which men of music wrote songs about Courtney Love, how Placebo came to prominence, or what really happened with Blur vs Oasis, you don’t need to look any further than Trash. Theory. The pseudo-documentary channel is an idyllic lesson in all that is musical, and an informative but not preaching look at the rich cultural tapestry our countries have to offer on the sound side of things. Our favorite episode has to be their most recent, an ode to British producer Richard X and how he changed the face of pop as we know it with The Sugababes’ “Freak Like Me”. Give him a watch!
We were just as flabbergasted as you when the articles and tweets were posted about A24’s latest effort. They only went and did a set of books on our favorite Emmy Award winning show, Euphoria. Bound in super irresistible holographic covers, the set includes 8 stories, which are most likely based on each of the main characters. Besides that there is no release date or official description of what to expect, we will just have to be on our guard as we wait for new developments to tie us up until the next season. adorns our screens.
Mario Kart Tour (for iPhone)
It has to be the ultimate iPhone game that ever existed. Of course, Flappy Bird was good for that day, or the one with the high heels where you can play the part of Nicki Minaj after you get past the millions of ads they offer. But there’s just something SO addicting about Mario Kart Tour, like, it’s so easy, but a rogue red shell grabbing the back of your vehicle can take you down from 1st to 7th. The adrenaline you get when trying to get back up is simply indescribable. What a race!
Marc Jacobs has his feet (which are encased in vintage lilac Vivienne Westwood platforms) firmly placed on our necks with the last drop for his new Heaven line. After opening a new store in Los Angeles to showcase their ultra-cool clothes, with the help and curatorial eye of Climax Books, everyone Euphoria Sydney Sweeney in Thundercat and Steve Lacy stepped in for a close read and a nod. We’ve got our eyes on a few hoodies ourselves, maybe even a gray quilted bag, so if you’ve got one, go for it Marc!
