Everton fans were furious as deadline day passed with the club failing to secure a single signing in January.
The Toffees languish in 19th place, facing the very real prospect of dropping out of the Premier League for the first time.

Dyche is Everton’s new boss… but hasn’t been backed by any signings
Sean Dyche was brought in to replace Frank Lampard on Monday and was expected to be backed up by a few signings.
The club sold Anthony Gordon to Newcastle for £40m, rising to £45m, and it was thought that money would be plowed back into the playing squad.
However, Everton could not secure any agreement on the line. This leaves Dyche’s team in worse shape than when he joined.
This led to a small number of fans gathering outside the club’s Finch Farm training base to vent their fury.

The club’s hierarchy has been branded a ‘liar’ by fans
Everton were linked with a number of players on the other side of the window and there was expected to be at least one entrant.
An offer has been made for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, but he has remained at Stamford Bridge.
Che Adams, Lucas Moura, Moussa Dembele and Marko Arnautovic were among the other played linked with a switch from Goodison Park.
Even a move for veteran winger Andre Ayew was mooted, but it never materialized.

Gordon was sold, but Everton did not reinvest the money
Dyche will now be tasked with improving with the players he has, rather than using new recruits to increase his ranks.
Fans will no doubt support the 51-year-old, but expect a lot of fury to be directed at the club’s hierarchy.
After being named Everton boss, Dyche said: “We want to bring back a good feeling. We need the fans, we need unity and we need everyone aligned. It starts with us as staff and players.
“Our goal is to build a team that works, fights and proudly wears the badge. The connection with the fans can then develop very quickly because they are so passionate.
“There is quality in this team. But we have to make them shine. This is my job and that of my staff.
