The British Boxing Board of Control has refused to sanction Daniel Dubois’ proposed next fight against Lucas Browne.
The much-loved power of the young heavyweight contender knocked out America’s Trevor Bryan last time out to win the WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight belt.
When he was undefeated six years ago, that belt belonged to Browne.
However, he was stripped naked following a positive drug test.
Since then he has suffered knockout losses at the hands of Dillian Whyte, Dave Allen and Paul Gallen.
Remarkably in his last fight in June, the 43-year-old bounced back with a shock knockout win over Junior Fa.
Despite the win, the BBBofC decided he was ineligible to face Dubois and many fans seem to agree with that decision.
One man who disagrees is WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Fury shared Browne’s rant video on the subject on his own Instagram Story on Thursday and captioned it, “Let the man fight. Luis Ortiz is 55 and Bernard Hopkins was 50. 43 is just a puppy.
In the video, the Australian gave his version of events.
Browne said: “So here I am, I finally have some good news about being able to fight.
“I accepted, Daniel wants the fight. To fight again for a WBA title.
“Finally have a chance to fight for the WBA ‘regular’ title again.
“And all I hear now is that the British Boxing Board of Control won’t sanction the fight because I’m too old.
“So regardless of the fact that I started boxing at 32, that I was a champion at 36 with no amateur experience, I had two big knockout victories.
“Junior Fa, eliminated in the first round. I currently hold an IBF and WBA regional title and a top 15 world ranking with the WBA, but I am apparently too old.
“So you finally get the best news ever, that you can fight for a title and a board somewhere says, ‘Oh no, he’s 43, he’s too old, we’re not going to sanction him. .
“How sad? Wow. It’s not like I’ve been beaten my whole career, I have three losses in total.
“How does it work? How does it work exactly?…
“The guy from Australia is getting screwed again.
“That’s the thing with boxing, it’s the money and the politics. If you don’t have the money and the politics to back it up, you get screwed.
“It has been my whole career unfortunately. My whole career, I’ve been screwed over by everyone in boxing.
