This Russian doppelganger of Leonardo DiCaprio accuses the Covid-19 lockdown of shattering his dreams of becoming a big star.

Before the pandemic, Roman Burtsev (39) of Podolsk, Russia, was booking numerous publicity gigs, posing for photos with fans and wanted for photo ops thanks to his eerie resemblance to the 46-year-old Hollywood A-lister.

He has starred in major commercial campaigns including Siberian Five Lakes vodka and counterfeit iPhone and Adidas products.

Now, thanks to his containment weight gain, Roman is struggling to book a single job.

“The problems started with the introduction of restrictions in April 2020 and now people have forgotten about me,” Roman said.

His absence from the spotlight and his inability to shed the extra pounds also played a role, said the 39-year-old, who did not disclose how much weight he gained.

“I tried a lot of methods to lose weight before I found my own and now I’m losing weight,” he adds.

Roman, who quit his crypto job a few years ago, also had to take his cats and move in with his parents to their two-bedroom apartment when the money ran out.

This isn’t the first time Roman’s weight has been an issue. During an interview in 2016, Roman made headlines calling him “fat Leo DiCaprio”.

“Regarding the weight, it’s true. It’s obvious and I can’t help it.

The point is, people don’t know why. They don’t know, for example, that I have thyroid problems. They just say it without thinking.

“On the one hand, it’s true. On the other hand, when people let go and speak out without any self-censorship, it’s a bit hurtful, ”he said.

He says he wasn’t at all surprised at the attention he received due to his resemblance to the Revenant actor. “I think the media attention was quite understandable and natural.

“I had been told before that there was a certain resemblance to the actor.”

His rise to fame also caught the attention of women on social media, but no serious relationship has ensued.

“At the beginning, above all, a lot of people wrote. Of course, women sent me sex and flirtatious messages. But I don’t need adventures, I need family. Now it’s sort of diminished. It was all on social media. There is no one physically by my side.
