LeAnn Rimes continues its weekly LovE Sessions today, rightly on Valentine’s Day. Each Friday in February, the country singer plans to release a new cover of one of her favorite love songs. Today (February 14), she chose “When the party is over” by Billie Eilish.
Shot at her Los Angeles home by her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian, Rimes is shown sitting alone at the head of her dining room. The stripped track presents Rimes singing the song alone in a dimly lit room while its superb falsetto is presented.
“When the party is over” has a haunting quality that has always moved me, “said Rimes in a statement. “When imagining how to cover this song, this haunting quality is something I wanted to develop. Singing a capella does exactly that, and there is also intimacy, a vulnerable bond between the artist and the listener, almost as if you heard me singing a deeply denominational diary entry. “
This week’s performance follows Rimes’ cover of Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me”. About the idea of weekly covers, Rimes had already said Billboard it’s a way to have fun with music.
“Love is a big subject to cover, and not everyone is in a relationship with a lover, so we cover all the basics, from falling in love to heartache,” she said. “We keep it super simple, filming it in our house. My husband has an incredible eye, so we fight to film everything. We usually learn and arrange the song right before the shoot, so what you get is very raw and real. ”
