LAYTON, Utah – If you’ve ever been nervous about trying something new, a woman in Layton can help you change that. Carole Taylor is 83 and says 15 years ago she needed a change.
“They say when you’re over 60 you should do something you’ve never done before to keep those passages in your brain active,” Taylor said, “I thought I should do it.”
Taylor joined her granddaughter Sierra’s karate class in Layton. Since then, she has obtained five black belts as well as the nickname “Karate Granny”.
This weekend, Taylor received his fifth black belt in Las Vegas by one of the most famous faces in martial arts, Chuck Norris. Norris told him that she was an inspiration to him.
“He just has such a loving heart and his family is so wonderful,” Taylor said. “They really really care.”
Taylor dispels stereotypes and shows people it’s never too late to make a difference.
“I get mad when my daughters say ‘my mom is 83 and could kick you out’. “
