Latto Hails Mariah Carey Ignores Nicki Minaj Beef: ‘Mariah Really Changed My Life’ – Urban Islandz

Latto shrugs off his rumored beef with Nicki Minaj and showered Mariah Carey with praise instead.

Latto is one of the lucky few artists to land a collaboration with Mariah Carey. On Thursday, the artist shared his gratitude to Mariah for being able to collaborate with her and for the many welcome changes she has made in his life. The artist shared his reflection in a tweet.

“Just sitting here thinking how @MariahCarey has really changed my life. Everything has fallen into place since you kissed me Queen,” she began. “I’m so grateful to have worked with you !!! Hope you’re having a great day,” she wrote.

It’s been a good year for the 24-year-old Atlanta artist, who won Best New Artist at the BET Awards in June. This is his first career award despite a few nominations in the past. In March of this year, things started looking up for Latto, who already had a top 10 with “Big Energy”, but a remix of the song featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled gave Latto his first single. #1.

The song reached No. 1 on the iTunes chart in the United States within 24 hours of its March 28 release. The song, which sampled Tom Tom Club’s 1981 single, “Genius Of Love,” was previously sampled by Mariah Carey in her song “Fancy.”

Prior to its remix, “Big Energy” had reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2021, which was the highest charting song of its career.

She previously spoke about the content of the song and why many of her fans linked to it, where she attributed the idea to the buzz quote “big d*** energy” that started on Twitter. Latto wanted to remove the idea that the quote can only be used in a male context, which is why as a rapper she chose to create an uplifting banger based solely on that idea.

Latto recently released his album 777 and has a new song, “It’s Giving,” on streaming services.

The Atlanta rapper’s name was recently mentioned in a rumored beef with Nicki Minaj. Latto chose to ignore that chatter and instead used his platform to pay tribute to Mariah Carey, who gave him perhaps his biggest hit yet.

Talk of a feud between Latto and Nicki Minaj arose following the Trini rapper’s recent Queen Radio show, where she talked about new female rappers trying to categorize themselves among rappers like her who have been in the game for two decades. Although she didn’t mention Latto’s name during her statement, her fans pounced on it and picked the “Big Energy” rapper from the shortlist.
