In 2021, Anitta and Maluma became the latest Latin music stars to get their own wax figures. The first is located at Madame Tussauds in New York and the second in Orlando.
“I’m a big dreamer,” the Colombian urban pop star previously said of the honor. “I remember when I was in high school saying I wanted to be here at the museum and everything happens; nothing is too big for that to happen.
Like a real ‘slicker’, the silhouette – which took almost six months and 20 studio artists in London – required hundreds of measurements and photographs from all angles, and was color-matched to all features of the singer. The singer-songwriter wears an all-white Versace double-breasted jacket and black Bottega Veneta shoes for his figure.
Anitta’s wax figure – which also took nearly six months and 20 studio artists to London – shows the ‘Girl From Rio’ singer wearing ripped jeans, a dazzling thong and a cut-out top as artists get her exact measurements, hair color, eye color and skin tone.
“It’s amazing to be part of this project! At first, I couldn’t believe I was actually invited,” the Brazilian artist said at the opening in New York. “I mean, I never thought a wax figure of me could be next to some of Madame Tussauds biggest stars. A lot of hard work from the museum team went into it, so I’m very proud and excited for the world to see it.
Madame Tussauds wax museum, founded in 1835 in London, has several locations across the United States, including Hollywood, New York, Las Vegas and Orlando.
