Ines Laklalech made history by becoming the first Moroccan, the first Arab and the first North African woman to win a title on the Ladies European Tour.
The 24-year-old defeated England’s Meghan MacLaren in a play-off to win the French Ladies Open with an aggregate score of 14 under. The two women finished the tournament in Normandy with a score of 199.
Laklalech became just the second Arab woman to perform on the Ladies European Tour, following in the footsteps of fellow Moroccan Maha Haddioui.
Diksha Dagar of India was third with under 11.
The tournament at Golf Barrière in Deauville saw defending champion Céline Boutier of France lose her title, finishing sixth with Austria’s Christine Wolf.
